United Taconite, located in Eveleth and Forbes, Minnesota, is accepting applications for the position of Journeyman Auto Diesel Mechanic for current and future job openings. The successful candidate will have completed an accredited training or apprenticeship program in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair and have at least 3 years of relevant experience.
The primary function of the position is to inspect, test, adjust, dismantle and replace unit assemblies or parts and make complete repairs to gasoline, propane, diesel, or diesel-electric powered automotive and other mining and accessory equipment. Safety is of utmost importance. Work may be in a shop environment or in the field. Work schedules may vary to provide 24/7 coverage for the facility.
The successful candidate will be required to pass a written and practical craft determination test, as well as pre-employment physical, including a drug screen; background check, and other pre-employment testing.
